Dan Schlieper Enjoys Top Five Run at
Bulls Gap; Currently Seventh in Lucas Oil Points
(SULLIVAN, WISCONSIN) The Dan Schlieper Racing team was back on the
Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series trail over the March 6-7 weekend
in the states of Tennessee and South Carolina. The ultra-fast Volunteer
Speedway in Bulls Gap, Tennessee was up first on Saturday night with
the $10,000 to win 'Spring Thaw.' Dan Schlieper finished second in
heat race action to earn the outside third row starting spot in the
60-lap main event. During the course of the A-Main, Dan was able to
pass a couple of cars en route to a solid fourth place performance
behind winner Ray Cook, Chris Madden, and Skip Arp.
The dirt-slinging competition quickly turned to the historic Cherokee
Speedway in Gaffney, South Carolina on Sunday afternoon for another
$10,000 to win Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series show. The Sullivan,
Wisconsin native won his competitive heat race and later rolled off
from the outside of the front row in the 50-lap A-Main. Unfortunately
during an early red flag period, fluid began leaking from underneath
the Rockstar Energy Drink #9 machine and Dan was forced to retire
from the race in the twenty-sixth position. He currently finds himself
seventh in the latest version of the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series
points battle following the doubleheader weekend. You can view complete
results online at www.lucasdirt.com.
The driver known as the "Wisconsin Wildman" is currently
planning on taking the next two weekends off from racing action until
the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series schedule heats back up on Saturday,
March 27. The famed Brownstown Speedway in Brownstown, Indiana will
play host to the annual running of the 'Indiana Icebreaker' and a
$10,000 top prize will be up for grabs. Additional information concerning
the one-day show at the Jackson County Fairgrounds facility can be
